Greensgrow CSA Week 15

  • Peaches - Three Springs Farm, Lancaster, PA

  • Corn - Ed Gaventa and Sons, Swedesboro, NJ

  • Leeks - Flaim Farms, Vineland, NJ
  • Monterey Jack- Hometown Provisions, Lancaster, PA
  • 1 dozen Free-Range Eggs
  • Nitrate-Free Beef Hot Dogs- Hendricks Farms, Telford, PA

I’m not going to lie, folks.  This looks like a dud week to me.  The last batch of peaches were decidedly worse than the ones I get at Fair Food (maybe not a fair comparison, but I don’t care.)  bda is going to kill me if I force any more corn down his craw.  Cucumbers are my vegetable enemy (in league with their ally, the dastardly broccoli.)  I can only think of two things leeks go in — potato leek soup and trio fries.  Monterey Jack may very well be my cheese enemy.  (No, wait, that’s swiss.  Monterey Jack is just overexposed.)  But, you know, hot dogs!

Well, we’ll see.  From the last basket, I was thrilled by the fresh pasta.  So tasty!  And shaving 8 minutes off the boiling time made it seem so fast!  OK, the smaller pot that the soft noodles enabled made it seem so fast.  But perhaps something I’ve underestimated this week will become the pasta of week 15.
