Sang Kee heals the sick.
When I get sick, I immediately begin my sick food regimen, which I truly believe makes me better faster. Some people crave their mother’s chicken noodle soup. I crave wonton.
I live in Chinatown, and I get sick regularly, so I’ve tried all the options. There is only one spot with the magical power to make me feel better.

Sang Kee Peking Duck House is my favorite wonton soup, hands down. Not only do they have delicate, meaty pork and shrimp wontons, but the broth alone is potent stuff. If chicken broth is a natural antibiotic, then Sang Kee’s broth is Cipro.
You can take it one step further there, too. Too sick to actually eat wontons? Send a caring friend to pick you up some congee instead.

It’s rice porridge, made with that same magic broth instead of water. When you’re feeling better, you can try it with a variety of meats and veggies in it, but when you’re sick, Sang Kee’s plain congee, which comes with fried dough sticks (think churros without cinnamon sugar), kick-starts the healing process.
